We’re not interested in competition? RFA took another unfortunate dig at the Octagon, this time “indirectly”

Here we go again. The RFA keeps saying that they don’t deal with competition, they don’t want to make a fuss and so on. But at times it seems the complete opposite is true. On Wednesday, the organization took an “indirect” dig at the Octagon. In a way that was really unfortunate.

Here we go again. The RFA keeps saying that it doesn’t deal with competition and doesn’t want to make fun of it. But at times it seems that the opposite is true. On Wednesday, the organization took an “indirect” dig at the Octagon. In a way that was really unfortunate.

The RFA has big ambitions, but…

The RFA is trying to attract the Czechoslovak audience and fulfill the goals that were stated at the creation of the still young and new organization. That is, to be the number one in the country by the end of the year. But it’s not happening.

But the fact is that the organization owned by Boris Marhansky is not the smartest. Although it announced the dates of the tournaments in advance, it somehow did not take into account that some events are already established on fairly traditional dates.

Not to mention, there’s no reason why the larger organization should sit on their asses and make concessions on everything.

For example, Oktagon and the open air tournaments at Prague’s Štvanica are already an established brand. Both in terms of date and venue. But the RFA announced the date at its inception and wanted to do an open-air tournament in Ostrava.

It didn’t pay to go to the Octagon

Ondřej Novotný, co-owner and promoter of Oktagon, said that the RFA management contacted their supplier of the tent that covers the cage to protect the fighters from the bad weather. There are only a few of these tents in Europe. Only one could win. And an established brand won.

So the RFA has to be content with having the tournament in a covered arena, namely the Poruba Ice Arena. And with the heatwave that’s currently prevailing, he took a dig at the Octagon on social media.

“We are not afraid of the weather. We are waiting for you in Ostrava on Saturday in any weather. ThePoruba Ice Arena can’t wait to see us together,” the post reads.

“The first plan was to do an open-air in Vitkovice. Fortunately, it looks like we chose a good option and we’ll see you at the modern stadium in Poruba,” Marhansky, the organization’s owner, shared in an Instagram post.

Unsurprisingly, a wave of criticism erupted in the comments below the post. The RFA practically shot itself in the foot. Moreover, unlike the Octagon, it still hasn’t sold out and certainly can’t help itself with similar moves.
