She was the only one who disrupted the parade of Prague’s joy during the trophy presentation in the Superfinal of small football. In five of the six categories, the captain of Staropramen Praha took the trophy for the victory, only among the women was someone else happy. Michaela Malá, the captain of Brno, was the first to lift the trophy for the champions of the Czech Republic.

“Jeez, I’m enjoying it very much, the girls are great and we are very happy that we managed to do it,” Malá crowed after the winning match.

The Prague girls took a 3:2 lead in the 43rd minute of the final match, but the Brno girls not only tied the score, but also turned it around. “I think that it was our fighting spirit and team spirit that made the difference, we wanted it very much. We just came here with the aim to win the first place,” said the Brno captain.

Coach Eliška Houšt’ova brought to Boskovice a diverse team made up of players from various clubs of the Brno Women’s Drbna League. Malá wears the jersey of the reigning champions, who call themselves the Damn Good Chickens.

Brno dominated the qualification in early June, winning all four duels. Staropramen Prague beat them 3-1. “In the first match in Pardubice we were getting used to it a little bit, we were playing with the girls from Prague and it was harder, but we are experienced players and I think the chemistry clicked really well after that,” described the 30-year-old Malá.

She and her teammates thoroughly enjoyed the superfinal, not only because of the victory, but also because of the atmosphere. “Honestly I felt a bit nervous, lots of people and cameras, I take it as a bit more of a commitment.

The Superfinal has more intensity, after all it’s something, it’s not a classic small football match,” Malá recalled, looking forward to the victory party. “Let’s sit down somewhere with the girls and celebrate,” she said while accepting the championship trophy.
