Big bad luck. Vlasto Čepo was supposed to main event Oktagon 30 after the fight was moved to Brno due to coronavirus restrictions, and at the same time it didn’t make sense to leave the title fight between Pirate and Kinclo there.
Chepa’s opponent was supposed to be Matej Peñaz, who has been shining since his move to MMA. But the fight won’t happen, or at least not this year.
The reason for that is an injury to Cep, who blew out his knee when he was paired with Pirate. The latter held his knee and then bounced off as he heard a nasty pop.
Everything was captured by the cameras of the production organization Oktagon, which always releases videos before the tournament, thanks to which the viewer comes more in touch with the fighters.
The video was released by Chepo himself for the reason to stop getting messages that he was making excuses and just didn’t want to fight Peñaz.
“Three weeks ago, when we were filming the build-up for the Octagon, while we were wrestling the Pirate took a shot at my leg and suddenly my knee blew up all over the hall. We immediately went for an MRI and it turned out that the meniscus and lateral ligament were torn. Still,I told myself I was going into the fight,” Chepo said on his Instagram.
However, he subsequently had a problem with his ribs and it was clear that the fight was simply not going to happen. Now the question is whether we will at least see Peñaz at the last tournament of the year.
