Karlos Vemola’s MMA career is slowly coming to an end. One of the most famous domestic fighters started in England, where he was able to draw attention to himself and sell out arenas. Now he has spoken about how he even had half the profits from ticket sales.
Karlos Vémola is undoubtedly one of the top earning Czech fighters. He is the king in the Octagon, he is the one selling out the halls and breaking PPV sales records.
It was no different in the past when he fought in England. Even then he entertained the crowds that came to watch him in the halls. And Vémola made a lot of money because of it.
“I used to get half of the ticket sales in England. By being a bouncer at the club, I had a lot of friends and was able to sell a lot of tickets. Then when I came to the Czech Republic and said how much I wanted for a game, they tapped their foreheads.
They were giving the champion twenty-five thousand for the fight and I wanted two hundred and fifty. They thought I was crazy. So I asked them how much they wanted for a VIP table on the floor. They said fifty thousand.
So I said I’d buy 20. ‘You’ll sell me tables for two million crowns?’ Sure, I said. And at that moment they were willing to give me two hundred and fifty thousand for the match,” he said in an interview with iSport.
And this is what MMA is all about. Fighters need to be able to promote themselves, whether it’s through their behaviour in the organisation or on social media, where it’s relatively easy to get exposure.
We’ll see how much Vemola pulls again at the end of the year. The opponent has not been announced yet, but a rematch with Patrik Kinclo is expected, which would sell out the hall in a few hours.
