On Saturday night we will see the biggest fight in the history of the Czech MMA scene. At the OKTAGON 43 gala Patrik Kincl and Karlos Vémola will face each other after five long years. Recall their first fight.
It was July 28, 2018. Prague’s O2 Arena hosted the gala of the now defunct XFN organization and in one of the most anticipated duels, champion Karlos Vémola and challenger Patrik Kincl clashed.
Two former friends and two elite fighters faced each other in a heated duel. Vémola won, but only on points and he didn’t have it easy.
The first takedown of the fight took a minute and a half. Once the Terminator got the Inspector to the ground, he kept trying to improve his position, but Kincl showed great defense and didn’t allow his opponent anything substantial.
On the other hand, Kincl himself was landing punches from the bottom position. During the round, however, there was to be the ever-repeated eye-poke that left the Inspector unable to see out of one eye for the rest of the fight.
A less active second round followed, with Kincl rather backpedaling and Vémola chasing him around the cage. He even tried to hit Inspector with a knee to the head, kicking. In the second half of the round, moreover, Terminator delivered a takedown and was able to check in with time remaining until the bell.
The third round offered a most attractive spectacle. Kincl began to land accurate shots in the standup. The Terminator did deliver a takedown after half a minute, but the Inspector was able to quickly get back to his feet and tried to break down the UFC veteran.
Karlos looked tired in the third round, yet he tried to chase down the retreating Patrick, literally walking in for shots from his rival. But he still managed to deliver one more takedown with two minutes left in the final round, and he didn’t let Kinclo get anything going there.
Will there be a repeat of this pattern? Or will we see an early finish and perhaps a completely different result? We will find out on Saturday night at OKTAGON 43.
