VIDEO: Submission of the year! Glismann’s finish at the Octagon has taken the world by storm. You’ve got a better chance of winning the lottery than seeing this, writes the respected site
OKTAGON 43 delivered some great matches. Unfortunately, the Tipsport Gamechanger semi-final between Louis Glismann and Melvin van Suijdam received considerably less media attention. The ending, which the Dane flashed, went around the world.
In Czechoslovakia, after Saturday’s gala evening in the O2 Arena, it was mainly the duels of the home fighters that were the talk of the town. The fight between Patrik Kinclo and Karlos Vémolá is the one that is getting the most attention.
However, it was this fight that delivered the best finish of the tournament. Quite possibly the submission of the year, and not just within the Octagon, but quite possibly the world. You don’t see anything like this.
Glismann was seen as one of the main favorites in the pyramid, but he didn’t put on the most convincing performance in the first round against Andrei Kalashnikov. Van Suijdam had it completely backwards. It was believed that he could surprise the Dane.
But it didn’t happen and he was forced to tap out in the first round after a sensational reverse omoplata. The omoplata itself is little seen in matches. And to see a reverse omoplata? Almost a miracle.
The sensational submission was immediately shared by the world’s leading and respected MMA sites. It was covered by media outlets such as MMA Fighting, BJPenn.com and MMA Junkie.
It was the last mentioned site that mentioned that there is a much better chance of winning the lottery than seeing the finish that Glismann flashed. Social media is full of footage of the awesome finish.
