VIDEO: Problem for Kozma? A month before his defense, his sparring partner almost broke his nose in Conor McGregor’s gym
David Kozma has long been the welterweight champion of the Octagon. In just one month he will have another tough defense. In Ostrava he will be challenged by the talented Brazilian fighter Kaik Brito. However, the Pink Panther is preparing hard and even training in Conor McGregor’s gym. On Wednesday, however, he had to deal with an inconvenience.

SBG Gym, Ireland and three fighters from the Czech Republic. The training home of the star Conor McGregor has been home to Lucie Pudilova for some time now, but now Octagon champion David Kozma and Matúš Juráček are also preparing for their fights there.
Pudilova has been guided by famed coach John Kavanagh to a rapid improvement that has helped her return to the UFC, where she has a winning record, among other things. Certainly the two fighters mentioned above are hoping for similar rapid improvement.
Kozma in particular now knows that no one is going to fight him too much, which is certainly a good thing on one hand. But then there is the other side. Nothing is to be overdone, which is not what happened on Wednesday.
Pudilova posted a video of the bloodied Octagon champion on social media. He was bleeding from the nose and there were fears he was broken. However, this would not be the first time. On the contrary, it’s a common problem for Kozma.
The Pink Panther paired with a fighter two weight classes heavier. “I didn’t expect that. I don’t have pads on and he puts my knee right on my mouth,” Kozma let us hear in the video.
He didn’t end up with a broken nose, though. “At first I thought it was broken. But luckily it’s not. My nose is a bit swollen, but I finished the sparring normally after washing my nose,” he told Kaocko.cz.
Let’s hope that the rest of the preparation for the next title defence will be without major complications. The fight with Kaiko Brito promises to be a very attractive spectacle.
