Oktagon headed to Ostrava on Saturday with the gala evening number 37. There were a lot of great fights and most importantly finishes. One of them was Vlasto Čepo, who sovereignly claimed his match with Matej Peňáz.
Vlasto Čepo vs. Matěj Peňáz. A match that Oktagon fans have wanted for a very long time. Practically since the OKTAGON Underground tournaments. But it still hasn’t happened yet and it seems that next year it might finally happen.
And maybe even at the end of this year. Peñáz still has no opponent for the tournament in the O2 Arena with the number 38, and Čepo has made his words clear with his match in Ostrava.
In the packed Ostravar Arena he challenged Giovanni Melillo, who has had some tough matches. He fought, for example, the star Michael Page and in the Octagon he tested Peñaz.
Melillo is the only fighter who has lasted three full rounds in the cage with Peñaz. Although he lost on points, he didn’t give the Moravian star a free ride. That’s why he was an interesting challenge for Cep.
The Slovakian fighter made no secret of the fact that he wanted to stop the Italian as soon as possible to impress not only Peñaz, but also his coach André Reinders, who said they were not on the same level.
And he has succeeded in doing just that. In the beginning, although Melillo was able to threaten and was the one who more or less created the fight, he soon became overconfident and that’s exactly what Cepo seemed to be waiting for. There was a shootout and the Slovak is simply at home in those.
So it was no surprise how the fight ended. Melillo on the ground and Cepo was the one who could raise his hands above his head after the referee intervened.
