Vémol’s next opponent? No giver! The Polish tough guy has been through a lot, including MMA fights without gloves
Karlos Vémola made a successful comeback in front of the fans when he was able to defeat Marpo. Now, however, he’s set to make his comeback to MMA, and although not a few people believe that Octagon has found him an easy opponent, the opposite is true. Who is Michal Pasternak and what has he been through?
Karlos Vémola made a successful comeback in front of the fans when he was able to defeat Marpo. Now, however, he’s set to make his comeback to MMA, and although not a few people believe that Octagon has found him an easy opponent, the opposite is true. Who is Michal Pasternak and what has he been through?
Coming up on Saturday. For the first time in its history, Oktagon MMA will head outside the Czechoslovakian borders when it hosts OKTAGON 33 in front of just under 10,000 people at the Festhalle in Frankfurt. Karlos Vémola, one of the organization’s biggest stars, will be there.
He will make his first appearance in a cage and MMA fight in a year and almost three months. Last time he fought Milan Datelinca in March 2021. Now he will face a much more experienced opponent, moreover, in the welterweight division, where he doesn’t normally fight.
Naturally, the general public looked at the stats and saw that Michal Pasternak, Vemola’s opponent, is now 38 years old and has lost three of his last five fights. But make no mistake. It’s not really a “giveaway”.
First of all, everybody already knows how the Czech Terminator fights. It’s not easy to prepare, but it’s not impossible. Last time, it was Attila Végh, who is the only fighter who has ever knocked out Vemola. However, the Olomouc native has lost most of his fights by submission.
And that’s where the road may lead for Pasternak. After all, he is a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and has won four of his professional MMA fights on the submission. On top of that, he’s capable of knocking his opponent out and certainly has no problem taking punches.
Pasternak has only been knocked out once in his career, and he has also been taken down by a single opponent on the submission. And the fact that he was the champion of the Polish organization Wotore proves that he is a tough guy.
Doesn’t that ring a bell? Then know that Wotore is an organization that organizes MMA fights without gloves. That’s just not for everyone, but Pasternak got through it without too much trouble. Plus, as mentioned, it’s a welterweight fight, and the Pole has several fights at heavyweight as well.
In the past, he has competed in Asia’s largest organization, ONE Championship, and has also fought in the Russian RCC. He has fought the legendary Roger Gracie, for example. In short, he has a lot of experience and he is definitely not an easy opponent for Vemola.
