Oktagon released a statement this afternoon announcing that Karlos Vémola will miss his fight with Patrik Kinclo. The current champion was disappointed and blamed Vémola’s lack of recovery. Now the Terminator himself has come out with a statement.
It has been speculated for a few days, now everything is confirmed. Karlos Vémola will not be able to fight on December 30 at the O2 Arena due to health problems.
He is currently in the hospital and sent a message to the fans. In it he explains his injury and also apologizes to his rival Kinclova, who really wanted the fight.
Statement by Karlos Vemola
“I can’t say exactly what’s wrong with me yet, the tests are still ongoing. I’ve been here for a week and I’ll be here for a few more weeks. I’m not in a condition to say for sure how long it will last. But it’s more than clear that I won’t be able to fight in December.
I was rushed to the hospital Tuesday night with a huge inflammation in my body, where I had a nodule in my armpit that ruptured and spilled all over my body and I’ve been carrying on like this ever since. The doctors are investigating the exact cause.
I probably got hit in the nose, because my nose swelled up first, and then in my ribs, because that’s where the nodules got inflamed and the swelling went up. But unfortunately, the swelling turned into a thrombosis in my left arm. Tuesday night was very critical, it scares me. The doctors told me I was really in trouble Tuesday.
I’m very sorry to the fans, to the Octagon and to my opponent. That’s the way it is in our sport sometimes, unfortunately. I just have to focus on getting better. I don’t think I brought it on myself this time by being stupid or underestimating myself.
But it’s a fact that I wasn’t feeling well for a few days, but despite that I trained and worked hard. I just chalked it up to excessive training fatigue. All the times and measurements indicated that I was in the best shape of my life.
I went for blood, but I couldn’t have known that I would end up with such a big inflammation in my body that would go to thrombosis. The cause has yet to be determined, we are still waiting for all the results. I’ll keep you all updated then and thank you all for your support,” he said via FightLive, the website he works with.
It is logical that the organization decided to make everything public now, although many speculate that Ondrej Novotny’s words at the press conference were not true, saying that there is no indication that the fight will not take place.
Kincl also put out astatement on social media blaming his rival for his lack of recovery, which there can be no doubt about, and Vémola himself admits it.
