In Bratislava, Karlos Vémola made a significant mark in the history of the Oktagon when he delivered the fastest knockout in the history of the organization. He shocked the fans and, it seemed, himself. Promoter Ondřej Novotný revealed that Terminator made a major change before the fight.
On 7th October, crazy things were happening in Bratislava. The OKTAGON 47 tournament delivered a sensational card and great performances. One of the biggest moments was Karlos Vémola, who finished Pavol Langer in seven seconds and set a new record.
A faster knockout has never been seen in the Oktagon. Seven seconds will be hard to beat. However, after the important win, Terminator challenged Patrik Kincl and the champion has already responded extensively to the challenge of both the Olomouc native and Vlasto Cepo.
However, there was much debate as to what actually happened to earn Vémola such a finish. Langer should have been a great test for the Czech legend, but the opposite became true.
However, Oktagon boss Ondřej Novotný gave a glimpse behind the scenes and revealed that Vémola made a very important change in preparation for the fight. “I don’t know if it’s a secret. If he scolds me. I believe not,” he began his comments on MMA’s Flight Through the World.
Vémola made a major change
According to the promoter, the Terminator was able to apply himself from his previous fights, including the one with Kincl: ” He let himself be convinced that he had to go drills. He loved to pair up, but this time the trainers told me he had to do the drills because if he drills it, he’ll do it in the fight. So Karlos drilled that dribble, hit it fantastic and shut down a guy that wasn’t shut down by Poppeck, Skvor or Xavier.”
Novotny says the road to those seven seconds led from May to October. He recalled that Vémola took a break from social media and understood the direction he wanted to take his career towards the end.
“But with Karlos, it will always be in the stars which fight is the last and where he wants to go. Right now he’s heading towards Attila, but then he’ll have two fights and say he’s going to fight for another year,” he added.
The Oktagon boss also admitted that he is happy for Terminator. And how are negotiations going regarding his fight with Kincl? We should know in a few dozen hours, he says.
