Vémola on Matava: Every opponent is a threat! If he wasn’t good, he would never have been pitted against me

This Saturday we will see the return of Karlos Vemola. He will face Al Matava at the Oktagon 41 tournament in Liberec and the bookmakers see the fight as one-sided. However, Vémola doesn’t want to underestimate his opponent and explained why he will fight him at an unusual weight.

The experienced Terminator got his opponent to warm up in front of Patrik Kinclo and the move has understandably drawn a huge wave of criticism.

Many fans say he took too easy a bite. After all, Patrik Kincl himself criticized this choice and said that even a win against Vemola would not move him anywhere.

“I heard the same thing when I went with Lohore and Alex subsequently worked his way up to the title match, beating Pirate, etc. They said that about Ilitch and then he beat Shlemenko. People have said that about the vast majority of my opponents, that they can’t threaten me, but I don’t pay attention to that kind of talk at all.

Every opponent is a threat, everybody at this weight already has a decent shot and if they weren’t good, they would never face me. I think he has shown his skills in the Octagon several times and I don’t worry about it and I never underestimate anyone,” he said in an interview with Expres.

Vémola will not go up to 84 or 93 pounds with Matavao. but in catchweight up to 89 kilos. Why did the fighters agree with the organization in this way?

“It’s for several reasons. It’s great for me that I don’t have to drop to 84 twice in a short time and after my health problems I can gradually get there.

At the same time, Matavao hasn’t weighed in a few times in the Octagon, so maybe there was some risk there and I think this weight will help both him and me. Plus… it’s not a title fight, so it’s not against anything,” he added.
