Vemola? Let him poke me. He did it before the game and then licked the floor, Végh recalls
It’s been two years since the Match of the Century. But Karlos Vémola hasn’t accepted defeat yet, and he keeps poking his opponent. He hasn’t forgiven himself now that Attila Végh has announced his boxing match. How did the Slovakian fighter react?
It’s been two years since the Match of the Century. But Karlos Vémola hasn’t accepted defeat yet, and he keeps poking his opponent. He hasn’t forgiven himself now that Attila Végh has announced his boxing match. How did the Slovakian fighter react?
While Karlos Vémola still hasn’t come to terms with his defeat in the Fight of the Century, Attila Végh has long enjoyed a well-deserved rest. He hasn’t fought in over two years. But that will change in December.
He will fight Emanuel Newton, whom he fought twice in his MMA career. Both can boast of being Bellator champions.
Still, Vemola had to take a dig. “I saw that Attila is training now and he’s getting ready to fight some retired guy from America,” the injured Terminator let slip on his live broadcast.
Végh has long not addressed Vémol’s remarks much, but rather cleverly ridiculed and put them down, which he has done now.
“He can poke me all he likes, but what’s in it for him? Before our fight, he was also picking on us for a year and in the end he licked the floor,” said the Slovak fighter in an interview with Sport.sk.
But he didn’t stop there. He added that if he had listened to people like Vémola in his career, he would not have made it to where he is now. He also noted that Terminator should focus mainly on his comeback, whereupon he wished him a speedy recovery.
The first Czech in the UFC himself was then scheduled to have a boxing match with rapper Marpo. The original date was rescheduled for February, but even that doesn’t look realistic. Vémola is constantly putting Marko down and picking on him. But Végh would not underestimate him.
“Marpo has nine fights in Thai boxing. He’s skilled and would train Karlos in stand-up. Karlos’ boxing is a disaster, even a layman can see that. It wouldn’t be an attractive fight. Karlos would just hang around and try to wear his opponent down. I would definitely favour Marpo,” Végh predicts a potential Vémol boxing match.
Besides, the Slovak fighter said his MMA career is practically over. He’s waiting for one offer, which is probably a rematch with Vemola. It is not clear when it will happen.
