Vemola? I’m no fool, I know he’s a strong fighter, but you have to add hype for the fans to make it fun for them, Ilic said
Aleksandar Ilic was very active in the trash talk before the match with Karlos Vemola. However, the Serbian Joker did not last in the cage until the end of the first round and had to bow to his conqueror. What did he say after the fight and why didn’t he leave a dry thread on Vemola?
Aleksandar Ilic was very active in the trash talk before the match with Karlos Vemola. However, the Serbian Joker did not last in the cage until the end of the first round and had to bow to his conqueror. What did he say after the fight and why didn’t he leave a dry thread on Vemola?
Karlos Vémola became the welterweight champion at Oktagon 34. In the first round, he stopped Serbian Aleksandar Ilic, whose trashtalk was so massive that it annoyed even many opponents of the Czech Terminator.
The fans at Štvanici whistled at him as he entered, which was to be expected. Ilič himself said afterwards that he loves it and always enjoys it. But why did he keep insulting Vemola?
“I’m not a fool, I know he’s a strong fighter, I know he’s here for a reason, but you have to add hype for the fans to make it fun for them as well. I wanted them to feel the tension between us. Karlos knows I didn’t come here just to play,” he said after the fight.
His goal was to promote the match, which he did. Vémola himself does the same, and this time he was quite quiet by his standards.
“I respected Carlos before the match, but I wanted to do a promo. I presented a challenge for him, I hit him a couple of times in the stand-up, I defended some takedowns, it was definitely a good fight.
It’s also about psychology, he had the fans on his side, the people from the Octagon, even the medical staff was on his side. I needed to piss him off a little bit. I enjoyed it even though I didn’t have the fans on my side. I’m a little envious of the fans you have in the Czech Republic and Slovakia,” he added.
But Ilic’s journey in the Octagon doesn’t end with this defeat. He signed a multi-fight contract with the organization, so it’s only a matter of whether he will be back this year.
