Vemola: If I’m not going to be able to beat Matavao and Kinceloe, how can I have the gall to challenge Attila Vegh?
Karlos Vémola currently has three matches scheduled for 2023 and he will see the first one next Saturday in Liberec. In a recent interview with the organization, he spoke about his injury, but also about the fact that in case of defeat against Matava or Kinclo, we may not see a rematch with Vegh.

If you were to ask the general public what MMA fighter they know, the name that would be heard by the majority would be Karlos Vemol. Although he is a rather controversial figure in the sport, he draws masses of people into the halls or to their television screens.
However, last December, he suffered a major elbow inflammation that was even thought to be life threatening. Now he’s back, and he’ll face Al Matava on Saturday.
This fight was widely criticized after it was announced. After all, it’s a relatively small bite for a champion who is looking to steal back the middleweight belt a month later.
“Ondra and I decided that we would make Kincla as soon as possible because there was an avalanche of rumours. We didn’t want to wait a year, but I told Ondra I needed a test. We agreed that if there was a tournament in Liberec and Matavao had already failed to make weight several times, it would be a catchweight.
I’ve been sick enough and to give my body a setback, to lose in April and May, that would be pretty stupid for my body,” said Vémola in a promotional video of the Oktagon MMA organization.
But he also added that he doesn’t underestimate Matavao. The twenty-nine-year-old fighter from American Samoa surprised even Marek Mazuch with his hard punches in Ostrava in December.
“I definitely don’t underestimate him, every fight is a risk for me. I had X wins that Attila Végh took from me and now I have X more wins, I want to fight for the rematch and I want to earn it.
If I’m not able to beat guys like Matavao and Kincl, how can I have the gall and the audacity to challenge a great champion like Attila,” he added.
“For him it will be the chance of a lifetime, he will go all in, but for me it would be the loss of a lifetime. I’ve been building something here for 30 years and he’s going to take it away from me. I’m not giving it to him!” Vémola finished.
The fight will take place next Saturday at the Oktagon 41 tournament in Liberec. Vémola and Matava will be the main pre-fight, as we can look forward to the title fight between Jonas Magard and Gustavo Lopez.
