He hasn’t fought in over a year, and he hasn’t fought in a semi-heavyweight match for even longer, yet Karlos Vémola has broken into the top 50 of the world rankings thanks to his victorious comeback.
The Fight Matrix server, whose rankings are considered the most relevant, placed the Olomouc native at an excellent 48th place after his win over Michal Pasternak.
The Terminator is thus close to his career high, having been ranked 43rd among welterweight fighters in October 2019.
Interestingly, alongside Vemola, the rankings include fighters from the world’s biggest organizations, namely the UFC and Bellator. It is worth mentioning, for example, the veteran Mauricio Rua.
The Terminator’s next goal is to win the welterweight title, he doesn’t care who it’s with. Rafael Xavier has claimed the fight, while Vémola himself has challenged German Terminator Stephan Pütz.
The reason why he wants to fight for the welterweight title is because he can’t drop so many pounds so often anymore.
If he wins his next fight, he could surpass his career high of 43rd. For someone who has been injured for over a year and is 36 years old, that is an outstanding feat.
Interestingly then, Vémola has moved ahead of his rival Viktor Peshta, now a fighter in the American PFL organization, in the rankings. He is ranked 51st. Pütz, for a change, is in 73rd place.
