Tottenham have announced on their Twitter account that head coach Antonio Conte has been diagnosed with gall bladder inflammation, for which he must undergo surgery immediately. He will therefore logically be absent from the sideline in the coming days.

The tempestuous Italian coach has been with Spurs since November 2, 2021, having managed to alter the squad of the current fifth best team in the Premier League quite a lot in that time. Up to this point, Conte has 66 games coached, of which he has celebrated victory 37 times.

However, he will add another notch on the Tottenham bench after a while when he has to undergo gall bladder surgery. He has been diagnosed with inflammation following severe abdominal pain, which requires immediate medical intervention, which is scheduled for Wednesday.

“Antonio Conte has recently been unwell due to severe abdominal pain. Following a diagnosis of gallbladder inflammation, he will undergo surgery today to remove his gallbladder and return after a period of recovery. Everyone at the club wishes him all the best,” Spurs issued an official statement.

Tottenham are otherwise handling the current season very well, having only been knocked out of the EFL Cup so far. The cup loss to Nottingham Forest is one of three defeats this season to weaker teams (Aston Villa – 0::2, Sporting – 0::2).

Otherwise, Spurs have only lost to Arsenal (twice), Manchester United, Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester City. Otherwise, Conte’s charges are doing quite well against other teams.

However, if the London team wants to break into the top four, it will have to find a way to beat the leading English teams. This weekend they will face Manchester City.

Tottenham otherwise continue to struggle in the FA Cup, where they got past Preston last time out, and in the Champions League they face a tough double-header with AC Milan.

In Conte’s absence, his role will be filled by assistant Cristian Stellini, who has worked with his partner on the bench for a number of years.
