Tottenham need a new Eriksen, they won’t be fighting for the top spot without him. Will it be Bryan Gil?

Tottenham have improved a lot since Antonio Conte’s arrival and are playing some good-looking football, which is also having success. However, the Italian coach still has a lot of work to do before he can get Spurs into contention for the Premier League title. What he lacks most is a creative midfielder who will supply the strikers with accurate and unexpected passes.

Since the experienced Italian coach took over, Tottenham have only lost once, when they fell short to NS Mur in the Conference League. However, no one could beat Spurs with a full squad, and Everton, Liverpool and most recently Southampton took a point against them.

However, it could be said about all three duels that Conte’s charges were the better team and they were really close to three points. Especially the Tottenham vs. Liverpool match was then a celebration of football, as both teams gave great performances that the fans must have enjoyed.

Of course, after ten games, it is still very early to evaluate Conte’s performance in London, but even so, it is clear to see what an exceptional coach he is! Spurs fans must be very pleased with this move by the management.

The search is on for a creative

Since the departure of Christian Eriksen, who incidentally Conte experienced at Inter Milan, Tottenham have not had a top creative midfielder in their ranks.

Tanguy Ndombélé comes closest to that description, but the Italian coach doesn’t let him on the pitch much. He is a very good player who celebrated his 25th birthday on Tuesday. However, the French midfielder is more of a power type of player than a classic technician.

That Conte lacks this type of player was especially evident in Tuesday’s game against Southampton, who retreated after the red card and created an impregnable barrier that Spurs could not cross.

Tottenham’s experienced coach subsequently reacted and sent on young Spanish talent Bryan Gil instead of Ndombele, who was definitely visible on the pitch. Unfortunately, his activity did not bring the desired result, but he certainly made an impression.

The skilful dribbler hasn’t got many chances so far, but Conte is starting to give him space and if he seizes his chance, he could be the new Eriksen that Tottenham so badly need.

Gil is great in one-on-one duels and can create space for his teammates with his movement and good kicking technique. All the 20-year-old Spaniard needs to do is play. But how much Conte will believe in him will be seen in January when the first reinforcements are expected to arrive. Then, of course, in the summer.

However, it is the strengthening of the midfield that can be expected at Spurs. However, it shouldn’t be a problem for Gil as he is a versatile player who will find his place. Ideally, in Conte’s system, he would fit on the right side alongside the Son – Kane pairing.
