Title defense? Macek is next in line, he deserves to go for the belt again, said Magard

Jonas Magard is still the reigning Octagon bantamweight champion. The latter wanted to give him a defence, but Filip Macek got injured and the Dane himself refused to be his replacement. Why did he decide that?
The Dane Jonas Magard was supposed to defend his Oktagon title, which he won last November. A rematch with Filip Macek was already scheduled, but the Czech fighter got injured.
But Oktagon did not hesitate and found a replacement in Brazilian Felipe Lima. However, this duel will not take place, as the Shark refused it, which was not understood even by promoter Ondrej Novotny.
“Who knows him here? Let him come here first and get his title shot! For me, as a guy from Denmark, the challenge is Filip, who everyone knows about here. He’s next in line, he deserves to go for the belt again,” said Magard on OKTAGON Hype.
He planned his title defence for the end of the year, when he would like to challenge Mack at the O2 Arena. And he’s definitely not going to give him the title.
“I’ve never had a rematch with anyone before, but I really want this one. Filip has fought twice since our fight and he has done a great job each time. He’s been hungry and aggressive, just a different fighter than before.
He writes a very strong story. He’s an experienced and active fighter that I’m very tempted to beat again. But this time before the limit. That is my main goal,” he added.
