Hafeni Nafuka has been a big unknown for Oktagon fans so far. But he showed up in Liberec in style and took care of one of the surprises when he defeated the talented Czech fighter Peter Gabal.

The Namibian nightmare has made a dream debut in the Octagon. Only nineteen years old, Hafeni Nafuka was a big unknown, but in his first fight he showed himself in a great light.

He challenged Peter Gabal, a Czech fighter five years older than him, who has won silver medals at the World Amateur MMA Championships in the past. Perhaps needless to say, Gabal was the favorite in the fight.

But once the fight started, Gabal pulled the short end of the rope. Nafuka had a clear plan from the start. Take the fight to the ground and do whatever he wanted to his opponent.

The Czech put up resistance, or at least tried to, but it wasn’t easy. Nafuka showed that he has great grappling, great vision on the ground and also patience.

Even though Gabal managed to reverse positions a few times or even get up from the ground, the Namibian nightmare did not let his plan deter him. While two of his kimura attempts failed, he caught a great guillotine in the second round and his opponent never got out of it.

So once Gabal tapped the fight, Nafuka notched his fourth career win and dazzled the fans, which was evident in the comments on social media. In fact, fans believe he could be a big problem for the rest of the lightweight fighters.

In his next fight, some would like to see him take on Jakub Tichota, another big Czech talent. Can he emulate Losene Keita, whose stand-up skills fans compare to those of Nafuka on the ground?
