Thiago Silva is one of the best stoppers in football history. He has achieved so much in his career, that at the age of 38 he could undoubtedly be thinking about the end of his career. But as he admitted in an interview, he is not ready to quit yet.
We can only admire the way Thiago Silva presents himself at the age of thirty-eight. He is a leader on the pitch and still a very valid player. Just the fact that at his age he is able to keep up with other football stars in the Premier League is admirable.
But everyone is aware that the end of his career is inexorably approaching. After all, at thirty-eight, Silva would be eligible for football retirement. Numerous recent injuries also argue for the end of his career.
But the Brazilian does not want to hear anything about his end. Silva plans to stay at Chelsea and would like to play at least two more seasons there.
“Of course I don’t want to end my career this year or the next. We will see what the future brings. Maybe I will become a coach or be involved in football in some other way. That would be something I would like to do,” Thiago Silva told Chelsea ‘s club media.
Silva is happy at the moment and so has no reason to end his career. “I live in the present and I enjoy it as much as possible. But at the same time, I need to think about life after my career, which is why I started studying for a professional coaching licence in Brazil,” he admitted, adding that coaching is the path Thiago Silva will probably take after his career.
Thiago Silva’s most successful engagement was at PSG, where he made his biggest name. He was also captain there for a long time and is now considered one of the legends of the club.
However, in the summer of 2020, he transferred as a free agent to Chelsea, where he has been playing until now. He regularly features in the starting lineup and plays full matches. This is not usual for a player at such an advanced age, moreover playing Premier League.
Chelsea is his eighth football engagement overall. Not counting the Brazilian teams where Thiago Silva started, he has played in Europe for Porto, Dynamo Moscow, AC Milan, PSG and now Chelsea.
