Recently, there has been talk of an Oktagon tournament at the football stadium. There are currently two options and promoter Pavol Neruda mentioned that the organization has now given the green light for both. So everything will depend on its decision.
Last time we were part of a tournament in Prague’s Štvanice in the summer, where Oktagon last presented itself. It has decided to replace this popular tournament with another, but it hasn’t been revealed which one.
Almost everyone thought of a tournament at the football stadium, after all, where else to move than in this direction. This was basically confirmed and now the only question is where it will be.
There is currently one in the Czech Republic that at least partially meets the conditions of the organization. It is Prague’s Eden, where Slavia plays its matches. In Slovakia, the only other option is Bratislava, at Tehelny Pole.
The chairman of the board of Slavia was interviewed for the new format of the podcast Kudy běží zajíc (Where the Hare Runs), and during the interview the MMA tournament in Eden was discussed. Mr. Tvrdík then wrote in his post on the social network X (formerly Twitter): And of course MMA in Eden during the summer break.”
So is it done? In the end, it seems not really. Novotny himself hinted during the interview that he’s more inclined to another option, but he says the Octagon will definitely show up in Eden. He just shouldn’t be the first and Bratislava should win.
It’s all up to the promoters at the moment as there is current interest from all sides. This way Oktagon can evaluate what is more worthwhile and then we can be sure.
“We have the green light. Both in terms of dates and the favour of both stadiums, i.e. Eden in Prague and Tehelny Pole in Bratislava. It’s about the conditions of each arena, which we will put in front of us and decide accordingly.
We have to tell ourselves where it will be better to do it in terms of being able to fulfil it and where there is more potential. The truth is we have good reasons for both options, it’s going to be a tough decision. Anyway, the point is that we have the green light from both sides. Now it’s up to us,” he told Sport.cz.
