spanish midfielder Saúl Ñíguez, 26, has been confirmed as a new signing for Chelsea London. After the last few days, when the opinion about his transfer changed more than often, it comes to an end of the debates until just before the end of the transfer window.
Ñíguez has spent virtually his entire adult career at Atlético Madrid, from where he bounced to Rayo Vallecano as a youngster. Since then, he has become a stalwart of the team from the capital, where he eventually spent 8 full seasons.
What is a little striking about the Spaniard is the number of yellow cards. In the last 5 seasons, the 26-year-old midfielder has picked up a total of 47 of them, giving him almost 10 yellow cards per season. So the question is whether he can cope with a much faster Premier League.
It certainly won’t be easy. He is, after all, getting into competition with great midfielders who are impossible to slip past into the starting eleven.
Kante and Jorgihno are two of the best midfielders on the planet at the moment.
Chelsea will acquire him on a one-year loan deal with a €40 million transfer option.
