The RFA is responding to the overlapping dates and locations of tournaments with the Octagon: We’re not about ego, we’d rather invest money in wrestlers
The new RFA organization has held its second tournament, the Grand Opening Gala in Bratislava. After it was over, promoter Boris Marhansky commented at the press conference that Oktagon will have a tournament in Brno on the same day as RFA.
The new RFA organization has held its second tournament, the Grand Opening Gala in Bratislava. After the end of the event, promoter Boris Marhansky commented at the press conference that Oktagon will have a tournament in Brno on the same day as the RFA.
Oktagon recently announced the date and location of the OKTAGON 35 gala. It will be held on September 17 at the Winning Group Arena in Brno. Oddly enough, this is the same date that the new RFA organization was supposed to have its tournament also in Brno, but without specifying a specific arena.
The whole situation was, of course, very much discussed. Oktagon promoter Ondřej Novotný has already commented on the topic, stating that he is definitely not competing with the RFA and that if Oktagon wants to hold a tournament in an arena, they will be given a choice of one date and will either accept it or not.
Now the promoter and owner of the RFA, Boris Marhansky, has also spoken out on the subject and sees the whole situation as completely unnecessary. “I think it’s been done before, when XFN did it to the Octagon, now the Octagon is doing it to us,” he let his voice be heard at the press conference.
Marhansky recalled that the RFA published the dates and locations of its tournaments last October, precisely to prevent similar situations and let everyone know in advance what was going to happen and how.
So what to do about it? The RFA is reportedly not going to spend money on any such wars and compete in billboard numbers, preferring to invest the money in its fighters and bringing in more quality fighters.
“We’ll probably try to move the gala to another city or reschedule it. It’s pointless to have two organizations in the same city on the same date. Neither the wrestlers nor the spectators would get anything out of it. It’s not aboutego for us,” Marhansky snapped at the end of the Octagon.
