Another spectacular gala night full of exciting fights and great stories. This will be OKTAGON 55, which will also take place in Stuttgart, Germany, where the Czechoslovak organization will be heading for the first time ever.
The main event will feature a rematch between Christian Jungwirth, who is returning from injury, and Robert Pukac, who is looking to start a new era. Outside of that, Alexander Poppeck, who was supposed to welcome Jeremy Kimball back to the welterweight division after a missed chance to fight his way to a title shot, will show up again.
Besides, Lucia Szabova has her first fight in MMA after giving birth, a win could put her on the path to a title shot. Jakub Bahník or Karol Rysavy are also in action, we can look forward to the promising Ion Taburceanu or Jaime Cordero, who guarantees an attractive fight.
On Friday, however, there was a weigh-in, which was not as dramatic as the one before the last tournament in Ostrava at the beginning of March, but several sinners were exposed.
Oktagon weigh-in again revealed the sinners
The vast majority of the fighters made weight without any problems, but there were a few sinners. Jakub Bahník agreed with his opponent Wahid Najand on a weight of 74 kilograms, but the Czech challenger outweighed him by 0.7 kilograms. He has two hours to meet the limit.
Surprisingly, Jaime Cordero also struggled with the weight, he missed the middleweight limit (84.4 kilograms) by 1.1 kilograms and Najand still has two hours to avoid losing his payday.
As expected, Jeremy Kimball didn’t make weight, but he tried hard. You could tell in his body that he wasn’t quitting on anything. However, he dropped down to the welterweight division for the first time since March 2019 and couldn’t quite pick it up perfectly.
So he and Alexander Poppeck agreed on a weight of 96.6 kilograms the night before the weigh-in, which Grizzly met. It was the German who easily met the originally agreed weight of 93.5 kg and weighed even less.
