The Keita phenomenon! After another win, he became the highest ranked fighter in the Octagon in the world, breaking into the Top 50
The Octagon looked to Munich for the first time and the phenomenon Losene Keita also took part in the tournament. A man who has gained a lot of attention not only from the fans, but also from the world organizations. Now, in addition, he has moved up in the world rankings among the world’s top 50.
The Octagon looked to Munich for the first time and the phenomenon Losene Keita also took part in the tournament. A man who has gained a lot of attention not only from the fans, but also from the world organizations. Now, in addition, he has moved up in the world rankings among the world’s top 50.
Losene Keita is now the lightweight champion, but at the tournament in Munich he also fought for the first time at featherweight, where he would like to go for the title. But he was in for a tough test. Samuel Bark, a great stand-up guy and a man who can dish out the punches, but he can also take the tough ones.
Indeed, the first round confirmed that Keita was not going to have an easy time of it. Bark kicked well, but Keita boxed better. And after a fairly even first round, Keita began to dominate the fight. As soon as the third five minutes began, the champion switched into hunting mode and finished the northerner.
So now it’s clear that Keita will also see a title fight in the featherweight division, where he currently holds the belt of Mate Sanikidz, who defeated Jakub Tichota in the title fight in Ostrava.
And to make matters worse, the 25-year-old fighter has seen a big move in the world rankings. He moved into the top 50 in the featherweight division. Specifically, he now holds the 44th position, making him the highest ranked fighter in the Octagon.
Keita has thus overtaken, for example, Karlos Vemola, who is ranked 47th within the welterweight division. Interestingly, when Keita fights Sanikidz for the title, his opponent, despite being the champion, will be ranked much lower.
According to Fight Matrix, Sanikidze is the 246th best fighter in the featherweight division. On the other hand, he’s a year younger than Keita and would see a huge improvement if he wins.
Either way, the Octagon can wash their hands of it as both fighters are very talented and attract new and new fans. It’s more or less just a matter of time before they make it to the UFC or another world organization.
