The end of Kotalik in the Octagon? Michal didn’t even apologize. I can’t imagine that he would continue to fight in our middleweight division, said Novotný
Michal Kotalik was supposed to be part of the last Oktagon tournament in Bratislava, but he significantly outweighed and then failed to meet the condition with which he could go into the fight. In addition, the organization’s promoter Ondřej Novotný has now mentioned that he did not even apologize and apparently closed his door for some time.

The Oktagon 42 tournament in Bratislava is over and we saw some excellent fights again. However, we did not see Michal Kotalik fight Ole Magnor.
The reason for this is the non-weigh-in of the Czech fighter, who was supposed to be 84 kilograms and came on the scales five kilograms heavier. There was a nervous atmosphere, after all it was clear that he would not be able to lose that weight on the second attempt.
But the match was not cancelled at that time. A condition was agreed that Kotalík would have to be 93 kilograms an hour before the tournament. However, it was very likely that it would not work out. And it wasn’t.
There was no weigh-in, because it was certain that Kotalík would not weigh in again. So the rematch never happened and it is almost certain that it will never happen again. Or at least not in the Octagon.
The promoter Novotny was quite cranky about Kotalik, after all he lost another fight. After the tournament he spoke about him in an interview with Kaocko.cz and it wasn’t exactly positive words.
“Michal didn’t even apologize, in fact he didn’t comment on it at all. He just hid somewhere, but I understand that at the same time. It’s about a discussion with his coach.
Especially since it’s not the first time it’s happened. To be honest, if there’s one thing I can’t imagine at the moment, it’s a debate about Michal continuing to fight at middleweight for us. We’re not really going to talk about it anymore,” Novotny said.
His further involvement in the Octagon is probably not an issue. Or at least not in the weight class up to 84 kg, while in the welterweight class Kotalik will be weaker than his opponents and it is questionable whether he will even want to fight in it.
