The challenge of Silence? I was expecting it, but I’m definitely not going to quit yet, says Buchinger

Ivan Buchinger is a two-time Octagon champion, but he will have to defend his titles in 2021. He is now recovering from an injury he suffered late last year. When is his next fight and with what opponent?
Ivan Buchinger won two titles in the Octagon in 2021 and went for a third. He could become the only MMA fighter in history to hold three titles in three weight classes.
But unfortunately, he got injured before the fight and David Kozma took on Bojan Velickovic, whom he defeated after a tough battle. Buchinger is now recovering from his injury and will soon be back to full training.
He will have to defend his titles this year, when is his next fight? “In April. And I want to be 100 percent ready. If I’m fully fit, I can even jump into a fight before which someone gets injured. In short, I want to be ready for whatever comes,” he said in an interview with Kaocko.
Who will be his opponent? “I really have no idea. But I think I’ll have to defend the lightweight belt first and then the featherweight division. And since Rony Paradeiser and Losen Keita will fight each other in the next tournament, it is quite possible that my next challenger will be one of them,” he added.
Jakub Tichota showed up again at Oktagon 30, and said at the subsequent press conference that his plan is to beat Buchinger. What does he have to say about that?
“I have to say that I actually expected it. I suspected that the winner of their fight would then ask for a fight with me. It’s logical, because young guys naturally want to get to the very top. It’s just really hard for them when I’m the one standing there. And I’m definitely not going to quit yet,” finished the Slovak.
The next Oktagon tournament is scheduled for the end of February. The reason for such a long break is not only the coronavirus, but also the participation of promoter Ondrej Novotny in the popular show Survivor.
