The biggest blow in the history of the Octagon? Bettors tear the tickets, the Pole finished “on Jesus” his opponent! Even Novotny was amazed at the KO
OKTAGON 41 was presented as one of the toughest tournaments in the history of the organization. Many fighters from heavier weight classes came to Liberec and it was obvious. Already on the prelims card the finishes fell one after another. Probably we saw the biggest blow in the Octagon.
OKTAGON 41 was presented as one of the toughest tournaments in the history of the organization. Many fighters from heavier weight classes came to Liberec and it was obvious. Already on the prelims card the finishes fell one after another. Probably we saw the biggest blow in the Octagon.
Jorick Montagnac as one of the biggest favorites of the tournament, Mateusz Strzelczyk as one of the biggest outsiders. Moreover, the Polish fighter took the fight a few days before the event and was at a certain disadvantage.
Moreover, the Frenchman clearly gained attention and popularity with the fans with his last performances, he had three fights in the Octagon and won all of them. His last shine came at the end of last year when he knocked out Daniel Skvor in 38 seconds.
Strzelczyk is the one who takes every challenge, in the Octagon he has fought for example Vlast Chep and Emmanuel Dawa, whom he defeated. Otherwise, in the Czechoslovakian organization, he was no match for Samuel Krištofič, Matěj Peňáze or Christian Jungwirth
After all, Strzelczyk had already 27 MMA fights before his duel with Montagnac, while Montagnac had only 5. The Frenchman had no TKO/KO losses so far, but the Polish fighter was the first to deal him one.
Montagnac was at 1.12, while Strzelczyk was at 5.31. The betting amounts looked accordingly, and were clearly on the Frenchman’s side. And Montagnac started the match really well.
Strzelczyk was in big trouble several times in the match. Montagnac hit him hard and clean several times, and the Polish puncher was well out of his depth. But the Frenchman couldn’t stop him and regretted it less than three minutes into the first round.
The Pole had survived his own death and it was he, in turn, who finished his opponent with a brutal knockout. Even the promoter Ondrej Novotny was amazed. “Probably the biggest punch I’ve ever seen in the Octagon,” admitted the head of the organization on the live broadcast.
