Staropramen Praha comfortably defended the first place, gave thirteen goals to Most

Most felt they had a chance to fight for the first place on their home court. But instead, Most players are worried about keeping the second position in the table of the western group of the Superliga of small football. In the tenth round of the regular season, they lost 2:13 to Staropramen Prague.

The winner at the top of the table is six points behind Most and no one will catch them. “We enjoyed the match. We entered it with the idea that we wanted to keep the first place in the table at any cost, Most was behind us and we didn’t want to leave anything to chance. We went into the match with all our might and it showed in the result,” said Staropramen forward Daniel Žížala.

If Most had won, they would have caught up with Staropramen. However, another Prague club, Koráb, is threatening the second position, three points behind and will close the regular season on Tuesday with a duel at the field of fifth-placed Plzeň.

“Maybe we won’t even be second and that’s a pity. We were thinking about first place and it may turn out to be third, which we didn’t want. I’ve been playing the Superleague for six months and I don’t know many teams from the second part of the competition, but Dan Kasal and Ondra Bír say that teams there are afraid of Most. Of course, there are good guys from the national team in Blansko, but we can definitely beat them,” said Pavel Exner, a forward from Most.

Most took the lead in the first minute when Jaroslav Holman scored. “We scored a goal, but we knew that there was a lot of time ahead of us and a lot of goals fall in small football. Losing in the first minute 0:1 means nothing, we played our game and in the end we managed to win with a beautiful result,” rejoiced Žížala.

Seven minutes later, Jindřich Novotný equalised and after that Tomas Rossmann, Žížala and Ondřej Žežulka gave the visitors a three-goal half-time lead. “We started the game and scored right away. We expected that it could go. But suddenly the guests started to fall. When Martin Bocek came on, we thought we could do something about it, but the score kept rising and then it got a bit out of hand,” said Exner, who reduced the deficit to 2:7 in the 38th minute.

The Prague team added six more goals after that and went on to win comfortably. “We talked about them being more predatory, faster, more attacking. We had a lot of strikers in the lineup, we had a lot of problems defending, we had one defender, which is impossible. We didn’t have the strongest lineup, which is a lot for Prague. You could see that the visitors were real footballers, they had no problem with the wet pitch or the ball, it rained a lot, but they managed to cope with it,” Exner admitted.

Žížala and Rossmann scored four times, Novotný and Žezulka scored twice and the experienced Pavel Šultes scored once. Staropramen will face Olomouc in the quarterfinals.

“The first place is definitely important for us, we will avoid strong rivals Brno or Blansko. We don’t care whether we meet Ostrava or Olomouc. We believe that we will get through the quarterfinals. Then there will be tougher matches, but we are thinking about winning the competition overall,” added Žížala.
