Should Slavia start to worry? Union beat Leipzig and are now fourth in the Bundesliga

Union Berlin proves that its placement in the Bundesliga last season was no accident. On the contrary. So far this season, it is doing even better. But this is not good news for Slavia Prague and its fans. Already on Thursday they will play a crucial match in Berlin.

Union Berlin proves that its placement in the Bundesliga last season was no accident. On the contrary. So far this season, it is doing even better. But this is not good news for Slavia Prague and its fans. Already on Thursday they will play a crucial match in Berlin.

The top four of the Bundesliga table have one surprising name among them. Everyone seems to expect Bayern, Dortmund and Leverkusen in it, but that Union Berlin will be among this elite company? Few would have expected that.

But it’s a reality. The smaller of the Berlin clubs continues to live its fairy tale. Even in its third season after its historic promotion, it is outdoing itself. It’s as if Union’s rise has no end in sight.

Of course, it must be taken into account that Union now have one more game played than Freiburg, but Freiburg have a tough game against Borussia Mönchengladbach and are not in optimal form. Nobody can push them out of the top four now.

The Berlin team secured a great position in the table with an important and not very expected win over Leipzig. In Friday’s preliminary match of the 14th round, the Union defeated the Red Bull-owned side 2-1.

The Berlin fans are understandably delighted. Not so the fans of Slavia Prague. Union has lost only once in the last five matches, at Frankfurt. Interestingly, they were the better team in the match against Leipzig, which only proves the quality of the team.

Certainly, thanks to the victory in the first match, the Sešiovans know that the German team can be beaten. But on that day everything was in Slavie’s favour. The match was affected by the sending off of one of the Union players in the 40th minute. The Berliners will now have to watch out for that.

After all, there is a lot at stake. Union has the confidence and especially the desire to move further and further, to set new benchmarks and milestones. On Thursday, they have another opportunity. If they win, it will come true. Any other result will be a failure.

Can Slavia cope with this team full of fighters?
