He was introduced as a big star with huge potential. His life story is like a Hollywood movie. But while before his first fight even Czech fans had no problem cheering him on, now it’s the other way around.
In the first duel there was a draw, in the second one Jan Malach was eliminated, the third one didn’t even happen. Besides, Shem Rock had his first problem before the fight with Malach, when he got into a conflict with Vladimir Lengal during the weigh-in.
In early November, he was supposed to face Jaroslav Pokorny in a heated battle. However, their staredown after the weigh-in was too heated and Rock sent a roundkick in response to his opponent’s movement, injuring Jubox so badly that he was unable to enter the match.
Could it be that Rock was feeling remorse? His main regret was that the match didn’t end. Otherwise, even in an interview with Ruik, he complained more about Pokorny’s attitude. The Czech legend doesn’t want anything more to do with the Liverpool native, so it’s likely we’ll never see the duel.
And what will happen with Shem? According to Ondrej Novotny, a fine of a few thousand euros, but there is no danger of him being sacked. Despite the fact that a petition has been created that calls for just the expulsion of Rock from the organization.
Shem Rock and the end in the Oktagon?
Shem Rock himself is not making anything of the petition. He’s merely mocking it. He is aware of his position, he understands the situation, and he is simply mocking the fans who signed the petition and who started it.
“Someone send me the petition. I’ll sign it. It’s ridiculous. Over 100 police officers have signed it. They probably sent it to each other at the station. What the hell is this? These people are weird. Who the hell creates petitions like that?” the MMA Shorties website quotes the Liverpool native as saying.
Pavol Neruda, one of the heads of the Oktagon organization, also spoke out towards the petition. “I didn’t catch that something like this was happening. But I don’t know. It’s something else if Shem attacked Jubox somewhere for breakfast and somehow hurt him. That would have been clearly for firing,” he told Sport.cz.
“But this happened during staredown, where scuffles happen, to some extent it sells matches. Shem broke the boundaries, he can poke the opponent but not kick him like that. He deserves a penalty, but a sacking? I don’t see it,” Neruda said.
