Round 9 preview: Mighty Ducks can secure first place in Jihlava
The ninth round of the Superleague of small football starts on Thursday. Four teams from the western group are certain to qualify for the play-offs, while five teams from the east are still in contention for four places.
Jihlava Miners – Olomouc Mighty Ducks, Thursday 19.30
Five points separate the leading team of the eastern group, Olomouc, from Jihlava, which is currently in the fifth position. It is certain that if the Mighty Ducks get three points in Vysočina, nobody can overtake them on the first place of the table.
In the autumn, Olomouc won 5:2 in a mutual battle, but Jihlava was buoyed by a 4:3 victory over the Brno Vikings in the last round.
Most – Hanspaulka Praha, Sunday 14.00
All four advancing teams in the western group are still fighting for the first place, which ensures the most favourable position for the quarter-finals. Two teams that entered the spring victorious will meet in Most.
The North Boys won in Pilsen 4:3 and Hanspaulka crushed the Wolves of Kolin 25:1. The autumn match of these rivals was decided by penalty kicks in favour of Most 3: 2.
MF Blanensko – MF Baník Ostrava, Monday 19.30
Baník will enter the spring part of the national competition on Monday in Boskovice, because Pardubice did not arrive in Ostrava in the last round and lost 0:5.
Blanensko proved their form in Olomouc, where they won thanks to Ondrej Padera’s hat-trick 5:4. In the autumn, Ostrava rejoiced, defeating the South Moravian team 5: 0 on home ground.
Vikings Brno – PAMAKO Pardubice, Monday 20.00
The Brno Vikings did not start the spring well, when they fell in Jihlava 3: 4. They are struggling with a big sickness, yet they will go into the home duel with Pardubice as clear favourites.
PAMAKO is the worst team in the Superliga of small football so far, although in the autumn Brno won 4:3 after a penalty shootout.
Partyzan Příbram – Rytíři Plzeň, Tuesday 20.00
Příbram managed to fight for the lead in the western group in the last round, beating Prague Predators 3:2 after penalty kicks.
They need to confirm their valuable triumph again at home, where they will welcome the Knights of Pilsen. After losing 3:4 in Most, they lost their last hope of qualifying for the play-offs. In the autumn, Partyzan won 5:1 in Pilsen.
Predators Prague – Wolves Kolín, Tuesday 20.30
A dramatic battle was expected from the October match between the Prague Club Football League team and Kolín due to the transfer of several players and the coach, but the Prague team left no one in doubt and won 6: 0.
The Predators are also the favourites on home turf, as they are only a point behind leaders Příbram in the table, while the Wolves close the standings in the west with just three points.
