AC Milan’s Portuguese star Rafael Leão was expected to reject offers from Chelsea and Real Madrid, according to recent reports. The player, who wears the number 17 on his back, says he wants to stay in Milan. Moreover, the Rossoneri are preparing a new contract for him.
One of the most famous Italian websites La Gazzetta dello Sport came up with the information in the last hours that Rafael Leão has rejected offers from Chelsea and Real Madrid.
The Portuguese star reportedly wants to stay in Milan, where he says he is happy. The player is currently under contract with the Rossoneri until the end of June 2024, with negotiations for an extension still ongoing.
However, everything is heading in a positive direction according to recent reports, and the two sides have even already reached an agreement. His salary is expected to increase to seven million euros per season.
The fact that, according to new reports, it will ultimately be Lille who will pay Sporting Lisbon a fine of €20 million was a significant contributor to the deal.
This stems from Leão’s decision to unilaterally terminate his contract in the summer of 2018 after an attack by the club’s ultras and subsequently move to Lille, from where he was snapped up by AC in August 2019.
However, nothing has been confirmed officially yet. However, we have already written about the details of this case in a previous article.
Anyway, he has already shown how much the Almada native is an absolutely key part of the AC lineup and a difference player several times. First of all, in the Champions League, where he assisted Olivier Giroud’s goal in the return leg against Napoli.
In the Rossoneri jersey, Leão has so far appeared in 156 competitive matches, in which he has scored 40 goals and assisted in another 33.
