The Polish cannonballer has only his second season at Barcelona under his belt, but even so, there is more and more speculation about his future at the club. Robert Lewandowski has been linked with a move away from Europe. However, he himself has other plans.
In his first season in Catalonia he could have celebrated winning the league title and the Spanish Super Cup, but in his second he experienced something he may not even remember. He did not win any trophies. Moreover, there is a lot of talk about his performance.
Robert Lewandowski had solid numbers even at 35 years old, but he was not very visible in some games, and his contribution in the midfield could have been a bit more. But the problem is that he doesn’t always get enough service from his teammates on the tip.
This season, the Polish cannonballer has played 48 competitive games, scoring 25 goals and assisting 9 more. Compared to last year, he has slightly deteriorated. In that season he scored 33 goals and 8 assists in 46 games.
What’s next? That’s the question. Barcelona currently have to operate with limited finances and the Polish sharpshooter is in demand in rich Saudi Arabia. The club would certainly not be angry if a financially interesting offer arrived.
In Europe, not too many can be expected to pay a sum that would interest the Blaugranas for the now 35-year-old striker. But from Saudi Arabia, Lewandowski could fly in for a fabulous wage. But he is not looking too hopeful himself.
Robert Lewandowski has spoken about his future
Robert Lewandowski is still under contract in Catalonia until the summer of 2026, and it seems that despite speculation about his departure from Barcelona, he intends to keep his contract. At least that’s what he outlined in an interview with Mundo Deportivo.
“I’m absolutely clear about it. I want to win many titles with Barcelona and I am convinced that next season we will be even stronger and win trophies. I always want the best, not only for me but also for my teammates,” the Polish cannonballer let slip.
“I believe that next season we will go for trophies. I see what we do every day. It’s the only thing that matters to me. Barcelona is a club that is in my heart. I want to give a lot to it,” he added.
