Petrasek could have been in the UFC, but his head was against it. Now he’s aiming for the Octagon title, but he has to beat Putz. What’s his path?

Miloš Petrášek has always been considered a great talent, but he has never been able to fulfil his potential. The problem was his head. But after a long break from the game, he came back with a clear goal and a completely different determination. He wants to fight for the title and Stephan Pütz will stand in his way.

He was predicted for the UFC, but he hasn’t fulfilled his potential yet

He’s been one of our most promising fighters for a long time. However, he has always been said to be more of a training type of fighter. After all, he is still a sparring partner for the star Jiri Prochazka.

However, he was perfect in the beginning of his career, even in fights. It was no wonder when everyone was talking about UFC in connection with Milos Petrasek. He was close to signing with the famous organization, but he failed in a key fight.

It was 2016. He fought Csaba Hocz at the GCF tournament. He grabbed his favorite kimura, but didn’t finish. Instead, he was caught in a triangle. After that, he lost the next match and it was obvious that something was wrong.

So he made a few changes. He changed gym and then tried to start again. First under the XFN banner, then in the Octagon. Petrasek seemed to be back.

Then he tried to catch on in XFN and signed with Oktagon. Petrasek seemed to be back. He won four fights in a row. But after a bright period, the darkness returned.

Three losses in a row nearly ended his career

In November 2018, the Czech fighter ran into UFC veteran Jeremy Kimball. He didn’t have any mercy on him and ended the fight in the first round.

Petrasek wanted a rematch immediately. He got it a few months later. He put on a better performance, took the fight to the end, but lost on points. Another fight with a UFC veteran followed, this time Joachim Christensen.

Although Petrasek looked good in the fight, many fans and experts thought he should have won. But he fell on points.

Three losses in a row? “That’s two or three years of work, when it sets you back completely and you don’t get anything back from what you put in,” Petrasek reminisced about the dark period on the Journey to OKTAGON.

According to coach André Reinders, he had to change his approach to the game and training. He dropped out of wrestling for a long time. He was vague when asked if he would return. But after less than two years, he was determined to return.

In July 2021, he destroyed Vlad Neferanovic in Prague’s Štvanica Stadium. “This is where Miloš Petrášek version 2.0 was born,” Reinders is clear.

He asked for Pütz himself

After his successful comeback, Milos Petrasek had a boxing match with Samuel Kristofich. The pirate was better, though the fight ended in a draw. The Czech fighter was not happy with himself. But he wants to prove that he has what it takes to achieve great things.

That’s why he asked for a fight with Stephan Pütz. If he wins, it could put him on the path to a title fight. But he’s a big underdog. Still, he’ll be under pressure. This fight could be the key to his career.

“I picked Pütz because I watched him fight in M1. When he was signed by Octagon, I said this is a fight I have to have. If I beat him, it kicks me towards a title shot. I want to outdo myself and this opponent fits the bill,” said Petrasek.

Petrasek started his preparation for the fight at home. Then he left for Poland, where he will be practically until the fight itself. There are many fighters there who are typologically similar to Pütz, so the Czech fighter will be well prepared.
