Patrik Kincl admits that the fight with Wawrzyniak is medically risky for him: the bones probably won’t connect, great caution and responsibility

The King of the Oktagon is back. Patrik Kincl will be back in action at the beginning of March. After a nasty injury, he will have to defend himself again. He will defend his title against Piotr Wawrzyniak in Ostrava. However, he admits that it is a bit risky battle for him. What does he say before the fight?
The number one of the P4P rankings, which consists of the best fighters of the Oktagon across weight classes, will be in the cage again on March 2. Patrik Kincl has another big challenge ahead of him.
After dropping out of the fight with Vlast Cepo in December due to a nasty injury, he will face his conqueror Piotr Wawrzyniak. He was supposed to have a long layoff ahead of him, which makes it all the more surprising that he’s going into action now.
In December, the inspector “boasted” of a broken orbital bone that knocked him out of the fight. So Wawrzyniak fought Cepo for the interim title. He went into the bout as an underdog, but with the exception of a few moments against the Slovakian puncher, he managed most of the fight perfectly and finished it in the third round.
Patrik Kincl, however, will be a somewhat tougher nut to crack. The Pole will try to create a sensation. However, the Czech fighter also has a very difficult situation. As he admitted in his statement on Saturday, he did not count on his participation in the gala in Ostrava at first.
“But I received an offer and I decided to accept it. Considering my health condition, it’s slightly risky, however, if nothing happens in training, I don’t catch the same knee on that fracture or some hard punch, more time won’t help me anyway,” the champion expressed on his YouTube channel.
Patrik Kincl spoke about the fight with Wawrzyniak
Before he started talking about the fight, the Inspector briefly described his health condition: “The bones probably won’t even fuse. It’s dented, it’s pressing on the eye, the soft tissues have to support it. The bone is weak anyway, or so I understand. It’s a gamble, it doesn’t pair easily, but I believe it’ll fit.”
Moreover, the King of the Oktagon is taking this as a signal. He likes to overcome obstacles. When the preparation is too easy and he doesn’t get injured from it, he’s insecure. He doubts whether he did everything right.
“But when there are different hiccups, I get awesome performances. Hopefully I can confirm that now and perform at full strength. Plus I have such a responsibility not to spoil the whole event in the main event of the evening with a performance that would bury it,” says Patrik Kincl.
Once he defends his title, he plans to rest and not go to the gym for a while. However, he doesn’t intend to get ahead of himself. He is not underestimating Piotr Wawrzyniak in any way. On the contrary. He recognizes his qualities. In stance and on the ground.
“He’s a grenade thrower, he likes to shoot. I will have a similar gameplan in the stance as I did for Cepo. But the orbital will be worse. It’s going to be about not catching a punch. I believe I’m capable of controlling it. On the ground, Piotr’s a black belt in judo or BJJ, he’s got feel. He knows when to ease up, when to engage, when his opponent makes a mistake, he’s tired. I can’t let him make the fight. It has to be about me. I have to make sure he doesn’t rebuild my fracture,” the champion concluded his statement.
