At the annual Oktagon 50 gala, Ronald Paradeiser won the lightweight title over Ivan Buchinger, whom he lost to years ago. Now, in retrospect, he sends a message to his fans and said that in hindsight he regrets not being able to show his power in all five rounds.

Slovakian prospect Ronald Paradeiser took on the experienced Ivan Buchinger at the start of 2021. The fight ended in the first round when Buchinger choked out his opponent. The rematch took place almost three years later and the roles were reversed.

Ronald had moved on a lot in that time and he wanted to show it. And at least in the first half of the round, it showed. Buchinger was brutal in the standup, going to the ground. It almost looked like the fight was about to be stopped. But Buki showed a hard chin, a big heart and held on.

At the end of the third round, both fighters had some serious damage. But Buchinger’s was such that the trainers didn’t allow him to continue. So Rony made it to his third title fight and became an Octagon champion for the first time in his career.

Paradeiser sends a message to the fans

Paradeiser sent a message to his fans after a hiatus, mentioning that he wanted to come clean. He felt he was close to winning, he controlled the fight, and in hindsight, he’s sorry he didn’t go five rounds.

“It’s been a month since the title fight and I needed to sort out my thoughts and heal all the wounds that have accumulated over the year that I didn’t stop for a moment. Now, with a clear head, I can express myself and most importantly thank all the people for this year, which has been very successful in terms of my career.

I had the match in my reins from the beginning and I was just careful not to give unnecessary chances to Ivan, who knows how to take advantage of every even small opportunity to gain a victory. After I didn’t shut him down in the first round, my team and I threw ourselves into a more economical mode, expecting to win on points. I kept my nerves in check to keep the same pace throughout the 5 rounds.

But after the 3rd lap Ivan was very ragged and didn’t start the next round. To be honest, I’m a bit disappointed that I didn’t go all the way with him. I wanted to test my fitness with the biggest diesel in Europe. Thank you to all the team and family who made this journey with me,” Paradeiser wrote on his Instagram, a transcript of which was provided by the MMA Shorties website.
