What a spectacle. The underrated Ilic showed his extravagance on the domestic scene when he finished legendary Russian MMA fighter Alexander Shlemenko in the main event of the night at RCC 12.
He didn’t give the former Bellator champion the slightest chance to warm up in the Octagon. In fact, he finished his famous opponent with a brutal knee to the head in just twenty seconds, shutting the mouths of all doubters.
Of course, the crazy highlight of the night went around the world and didn’t escape even the biggest domestic MMA organization, which shared the event on its social media. The Serbian fighter still has a three-fight contract with the latter.
The charismatic Oktagon promoter Ondrej Novotny also reacted to the huge sensation. He didn’t miss a small jab at all the haters who underestimated the Serbian fighter’s abilities.
After the announcement of the Oktagon welterweight championship fight between Karlos Vemola and Serbian Ilic in Prague’s Štvanice, they criticized the organization for creating the title fight artificially and the Serbian fighter does not deserve his chance.
Joker has fought mainly at middleweight in his successful career and in the fight with Vémola he allegedly had a significant weight disadvantage. In fact, he admitted that after the fight when he said that his weight class is more like the one up to 84 kg.
“Joker Ilic (Karlos Vemola’s last opponent) just outpointed the legendary Shlemenko in the RCC main event in 20 seconds,” Novotný informed his fans on his Twitter account. “It says something, I’ll leave it to you to decide what,” he added with due satisfaction.
We can’t deny Ilic that he has just won a very valuable scalp and set his career on an upward course. How and especially where his career will go from here, we will surely find out soon.
