The new RFA organization is hosting its second tournament on Saturday, the first time in a larger indoor venue. The card once again features several ex-fighters from the rival Octagon. Ondřej Novotný, the head of the number one Czechoslovak MMA organization, commented on its composition.
The RFA is trying to lure fans to its second tournament, which is billed as a big Grand Opening. The card will feature Milan Ďatelinka, Miroslav Brož, Jozef Wittner and Sebastián Fapšo, fighters that combat sports fans already know from the Octagon.
In the MMA Flight Around the World podcast, one of the fans asked the Oktagon promoter what he thought about the card, which the rival RFA is proud of and with which they are trying to sell out the Bratislava NTC Arena.
And the response? Friendly. Ondřej Novotný looked at the line-up of matches and gave a rather comprehensive answer. In particular, he commented on the matches that await the former stars of his organization.
He started his answer with Miroslav Broz’s opponent, 40-year-old Diego Mauricio Jaimes Otalora: “He is 40 years old, he lost his last five fights, 4 by KO. From the point of view of a Czech fan, the interesting thing about him is that he lost to Reis, who was beaten by Gábor Boráros. I’ll leave it up to you how much you enjoy it.”
There was also criticism of Jozef Wittner’s opponent, who had ambitions to become an Octagon champion. “Martin Kalucz has an 8:8 record, against Wittner it’s pretty weak, let’s be honest with ourselves. He’s lost 4 of his last 5 fights, only won his last fight, last fight in 2019 was against a dude who had it 7::3. Until then he hadn’t beaten anyone with a positive score,” Novotny expressed.
And what about the main fight of the evening, which will be provided by Milan Datelinka and Nenad Avramovic? Novotny hit on the fact that Avramovic last fought two years ago against an opponent who had a 1: 0 record, and lost four of his last five matches.
Novotny quickly deduced from the stats that Avramovic can only beat opponents with a negative or very slightly positive record. “The main match of the night? I don’t know. I could invite you to it as an event? No, but I don’t want to say too much about it,” the Octagon boss is clear.
Novotny also said, among other things, that neither of the fighters who will face former Oktagon stars are on the roster. He also marveled at the betting odds for each fight, which are very erratic. In the end, however, he wished the fighters victory and everything they wish for.
