Fans will have to wait until the end of February for the first Oktagon tournament, but they can look forward to it all the more. Apparently, the O2 Arena will offer two title fights. In addition to the middleweight championship belt, there will also be a fight for the interim lightweight title.

The main attraction of OKTAGON 31 will be the fight between Samuel Kristofich and Patrik Kinclo for the lightweight championship belt. But it might not be the only title fight of the night.

Ronald Paradeiser and Losen Keita, who recently literally demolished Karol Rysavy, have already been announced for the tournament. And it’s the aforementioned duo that could battle it out for the interim lightweight title.

The lightweight champion is now Ivan Buchinger, but he hasn’t defended for a long time, so the interim title is in play.

“It will be 13 months since Ivan Buchinger has not defended the lightweight title. He was originally supposed to defend, but he got injured. Rony has had a great year, he’s been active and attractive and I think Keita deserves it too for his performance against Rysavy. If he hasn’t defended for 13 months, I think these guys deserve it,” promoter Ondrej Novotny revealed the news on MMA Flight Around the World.

For now, however, it’s not a done deal. Novotny wants to discuss the idea with Palo Neruda, the organization’s co-founder, first. However, he expects the reaction to be positive. He will then announce it to the fighters.

OKTAGON 31 will be hosted by Prague’s O2 Arena on February 26, 2022.
