Patrik Kincl had a phenomenal year. But his spectacular finish in the form of a potentially successful rematch with Karlos Vémoly will not happen. Octagon tried to find a replacement for him, but due to injury the middleweight champion will miss the O2 Arena. He has now commented on the public communication from the organization.

OKTAGON 38 was supposed to be a great end to the year. For the organization itself and the main eventers. Fans were looking forward to the dream rematch of the middleweight and welterweight champions, but Karlos Vémola got injured, ended up in the hospital and cannot take part in the fight.

However, Patrik Kincl is also injured, specifically he has torn two tendons in his hand. Oktagon, however, tried to find him an adequate and attractive opponent, but apart from one name that could not be agreed upon, there was no one worth the risk for Kincl.

That one name was Nate Diaz, a UFC veteran and combat sports legend. Promoter Ondrej Novotny revealed that he offered him a million euros, but to no avail. Otherwise, Tom Breese or Leandro Silva were in the mix.

Even considering his health, it is quite logical that he will not enter the match at the O2 Arena. However, it seems to fans that Octagon is trying to put the cancelled fight on him, not on Vemola, who pulled out first.

What does Kincl have to say? “I’m trying not to take it personally, even though they actually put it on me. I didn’t cancel the fight. I was ready to play even with the injury. But I don’t want to risk surgery with a short notice opponent who hasn’t fought in the Octagon (Breese) and 14 days to change the gameplan isn’t quite ok,” he expressed on his Instagram.

“Apollo was offered to me after I consulted the hand and decided not to step in. There are still myths circulating about overpaying. I should have gotten the same for that fight as I did for the rematch. Sure, the loss of money is very annoying, but I’d still rather focus on my health then be out for at least six months,” he added.

So the Octagon lost a major draw and is trying to make it up to the fans. There are some interesting fights on the line. On Monday, the organization announced that Gábor Boráros and Vaclav Mikulasek will face off in a boxing match.
