Octagon is the best organization in Europe! This is the future of MMA, the atmosphere was great, said Louis Glismann after the tournament
Less than 24 hours before the Oktagon 40 tournament, his opponent changed. In the opening round of Tipsport Gamechanger, Louis Glismann measured his strength with Andrey Kalashnik and confirmed his role as one of the favourites of the project. What were his feelings shortly after the victory and how does he like the organization? He revealed this in an interview with Ruik.
Your opponent changed less than 24 hours before the match. How uncomfortable was that for you?
Honestly, I wasn’t too sorry either. He was a similar type of fighter, tall, long. I always focus on my strength and my ability. However, I would like to give a big thank you to Kalashnikov, he is a true professional and I think he put on a quality performance. I have to stay positive for the next fights.
How well did you know Kalashnik before the fight? What was your immediate reaction when they told you that you were going to fight him?
Not really, to be honest. I’ve seen a few, but there are so many great fighters that I can’t know everyone. But as soon as I heard he was a possible opponent, my coach and I targeted him and I was able to prepare.
How tough a fight was it for you? Kalashnik is a quality wrestler and especially in the first round he didn’t make it easy for you.
It was a tough fight. I’m happy that I was able to measure my strength against such a quality wrestler. It makes me excel in my strengths and I can figure out how to be even better because of it. It’s part of my evolution as a wrestler and because of his abilities on the ground, I had to change my traditional strategy and act a little different on the ground.
Did you stick to the tactics you set out for the fight? How different was the tactic from the one you wanted to use against Gogoladze?
I couldn’t get him on the ground right away. He had a really good defense, I had to change my tactics during the fight and go for new techniques, especially during the second round. Like I said, he was excellent with good defense and I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t finish the fight on a submission. But in the end the most important thing is to win and advance.
How impressed were you with the Oktagon organization? It’s your first fight in it. What did you think of the atmosphere and the crowd? Have you experienced anything like this before?
This is 100% the best organization in Europe! I think it’s maybe better than the UFC because the fans are really fierce. The atmosphere was great, the organization pays well and can put on a good show. I think this is the future of MMA and I’m happy to be here.
