The last tournament of the year is over and there was a lot of really interesting matches. Octagon has its first female champion, but other fighters also shone with their performances. What did OKTAGON 30 look like?
OKTAGON 30 may have been a cursed tournament in a way, with many fights dropped, but the promoters did their best to make it worthwhile. And there can be no doubt that they succeeded.
The highlight of the night was the first women’s title fight in the history of the organization. In it, Tereza Bledá managed to dominate the much more experienced Mabella Lima, who was fighting for a UFC contract, in the first round. While the 20-year-old Bledá will return home with the belt, the Brazilian will take home two “beautiful” lacerations on her forehead.
A nice appetizer before the main event was a standup battle between Matej Peñaz and Cheick Kon. Kone was able to hit Peñaz hard several times in the fight, but Peñaz was more accurate and landed a lot more. He was dominant and knocked his opponent down early in the third round.
Jakub Tichota then turned in a great performance, dominating Dawid Kareta on points. Probably the greatest Czech talent showed a lot of confidence after his win and challenged the “chef from Lidl”, meaning Roman Paulus. In the second half of the year he would like to send the champion Ivan Buchinger into retirement.
Daniel Shkvor blasted Jhonathan Azevedo with his punches in the first round and was unable to make it to the second round.
Aleksander Kolontay and Mate Sanikidze put on a very interesting fight, with the latter winning on points. Emmanuel Dawa lost for the third time in the Octagon, he was defeated by Mateusz Strzelczyk with a leglock in the first round.
The expected fight between Matúš Juráček and Robert Pukač was won on points by the former. The result aroused great controversy, as the fight was very even, quite possibly in two rounds the Slovak fighter was slightly better, who also disagreed with the result. After the fight Juracek challenged Mate Kertesz.
The heavyweight fight was dominated by Tadej Dajcman, who forced Daniel Dittrich to tap out in the first round by choke. Michal Plesnik defeated Vito Spic by technical KO in the first round.
The fights under UNDERGROUND rules were then an interesting revival, with three ending on points and only one KO to be seen. Denis Farkas took care of that, sending Andrei Simkulic down with a great shot after one minute and fifteen seconds.
Tomáš Cigánik beat Jakub Mikovčák on points, Nikolas Krivák couldn’t keep up with Luděk Gregus, who was more active the whole fight. Adrian Tadlánek took care of a big surprise, he was not able to beat Andreas Čehovský in the first round, but in the next two rounds he made a big turnaround and deservedly won.
