Octagon announces Pest’s fight, but the champion has no idea: If it’s on the internet, it must be true
It’s supposed to be a spectacular tournament, two title matches, O2 arena, full of fans, great atmosphere. But there’s a flaw in the plan. The reigning welterweight champion Viktor Peshta didn’t know about his fight.
It’s supposed to be a spectacular tournament, two title matches, O2 arena, full of fans, great atmosphere. But there’s a flaw in the plan. The reigning welterweight champion Viktor Peshta didn’t know about his fight.
Due to the measures taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and the declaration of a state of emergency, there have been several changes in the plans of the Octagon.
The tournament with the serial number 30 was to take place on December 30 at the O2 arena, the main fight promised a title battle between the Pirate and Patrik Kinclo. But instead of the O2 arena in Prague, the tournament will be hosted by Zoner BobyHall in Brno and the fight between Samuel Kristofich and the Czech fighter has been postponed.
The Czechoslovak organization announced on Thursday that the fight will be moved to the OKTAGON 31 tournament, which should actually be hosted by the O2 arena. The event is scheduled to take place on February 26, 2022.
Aside from the title fight between Pirate and Kinclo, fans should look forward to a title rematch between Viktor Pesta and Stephan Pütz. It was announced by the organization, and promoter Ondrej Novotny also talked about the fight on his MMA Flight Around the World podcast.
But there was a mistake. Maybe in the organization of the fight itself, maybe just in the communication. The champion Peshta revealed on social media that he had no idea about the fight.
“I see I have a rematch scheduled? It was a surprise to me, but since it’s on the internet, I guess it must be true,” the UFC veteran expressed on Instagram.
Let’s hope the situation gets resolved and cleared up as soon as possible. This rematch would definitely be worth it!
