There has been a lot of talk about the United Kingdom, however Ondrej Novotny revealed that it is definitely not final. On the contrary.
Oktagon has its second tournament in Germany behind it and after Frankfurt it has announced another tournament in a new city, namely Munich. However, it’s no secret that the promoters would like to expand a little further. There has been a lot of talk about the United Kingdom, however Ondrej Novotny revealed that it is definitely not final. On the contrary.
Two tournaments in Frankfurt, Munich will be next on German soil. “We want to do the same for England, Ireland and maybe Scotland,” Oktagon promoter and founder Ondrej Novotny hinted at future plans in an interview with The Business Soiree.
The Czechoslovakia’s largest organization is working with John Kavanagh, manager and trainer of star Conor McGregor, to expand to the Islands. He was surprised by what he saw when he arrived in Ostrava with his charge Lucie Pudilova. What followed was his enthusiasm and desire to be part of such a project.
And what next? “In the future we want Spain for sure, then probably France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the Nordic countries. I think there is a lot of potential there. There are fighters there. The Vikings have it in their blood,” the promoter of Oktagon is clear.
However, another name was also mentioned. Qatar. Novotny sees him as a natural partner who is doing incredible things in the sport. Not just in football, as the World Cup will be held here in November.
“They organise motorbike races, formula races. They’ve built a night heated track for unbelievable money. We can be a kind of Formula 1 MMA for them, which they take there twice a year. They’ll enjoy it, the whole world will come, Europe will watch it, a lot of tourists will come for it. We will bring not only the fight, but also stories, emotions and a great spectacle,” Novotny enthused.
The Octagon promoter is aware of Qatar’s desire to present itself in Europe and bring the best of Europe to its soil. And because Oktagon is, in his opinion, the best on the European scene and has become the sovereignly largest German organization, which automatically put it “on the map”.
Novotný admitted that people from the show business have become interested in the organisation and the German magazine Bild wants to be a partner. Therefore, he believes that the expansion into Qatar can be successful.
