Oktagon 36 in Frankfurt tomorrow!
Hosting tournaments of the largest domestic MMA organization Oktagon and beyond the Czechoslovak borders is paying off. Although promoter Ondřej Novotný revealed many difficulties in building the organization’s brand on the foreign market, the first results of this difficult work can be seen.
Tomorrow we will see the spectacular Oktagon 36 tournament, when the organization returns to its western neighbors. Oktagon made its second trip to Frankfurt, where it sold out the local Festhalle in June. The card of at least European level is creating a stir not only in the waters of domestic MMA.
The world-famous media is attracted to the European minimum level card
One of the biggest overseas MMA sites MMA Junkie, which regularly feeds mixed martial arts fans with a huge portion of news, attracts to tomorrow’s Oktagon tournament! “Octagon 36 features five former UFC fighters, including the return of John Hathaway, ” reads the headline of the overseas site’s article.
In it, the site’s editor takes a look at five former UFC fighters who are headlining tomorrow’s Oktagon. Jeremy Kimball, Bojan Velickovic, Apollo Leandro Silva, John Hathaway and among them a woman of the fragile sex, but who can dish out the punches, Mallory Martin.
And that’s not all! Two weeks ago we already informed you that renowned journalist Ariel Helwani praised the Octagon in his live podcast with the returning John Hathaway. Also thanks to his elaborate stats, the famous Sherdog site is luring people to the Oktagon tournament via Christian Eckerlin, who fights in the main event of the gala.
The final piece of the puzzle has fallen into place, Novotny responds to the media hype
The amazing feat was of course noticed by Oktagon promoters Ondrej Novotny and Pavol Neruda. “That crazy guy with the glasses and the nose, Ariel (Ariel Helwani – a world-famous MMA journalist), wrote me again to send him a PPV,” Novotný praised Oktagon’s international success in his podcast MMA Flight Around the World.
“Even foreign journalists like Junkie begged us to be the first to write a really big story,” he revealed the huge success of the tournament in foreign media. “It has a huge impact, also because of John,” realizing the benefit in John Hathaway’s return after a long illness.
“It’s kind of like you’re building, building and you don’t know the result in quotes and then suddenly the last piece of the puzzle comes in, it clicks and suddenly they’re like ‘yeah, they’re doing good things’,” he says of the not always clear outcome of his work.
“So we also get a little bit of attention on the international scene,” he praises himself. “This tournament is just fucking good,” he said before the tournament started. So we definitely have something to look forward to! Even abroad, they know that the card of this tournament is really special.
