Novotny responded to RFA: If you lie and cheat, the universe will pay you back. It’s unbelievable that a few days before the game they went to Buchinger and forced him to break his contract
Power struggles? Oh, no. Oktagon promoter Ondrej Novotny doesn’t seem to care much about the new RFA organization. And that even RFA founder Boris Marhansky “convicts” him of using the practices of the 90s? Novotny’s answer is quite telling and unambiguous.
Power struggles? Oh, no. Oktagon promoter Ondrej Novotny doesn’t seem to care much about the new RFA organization. And that even Oktagon founder Boris Marhansky “convicts” him of using the practices of the 90s? Novotny’s answer is quite telling and unambiguous.
On Monday night, Boris Marhansky, the owner of RFA, wrote that Oktagon is resorting to 90s practices and that he has never encountered anything like this. According to him, the management of Oktagon should have put pressure on the bosses of the Košice Steel Arena not to hold their planned tournament there.
Ondrej Novotny, promoter of Oktagon, responded to the situation on his MMA Flight Around the World podcast, where he came to the issue mainly due to a question about a statement made by Ivan Buchinger, who admitted after his loss to Losen Keita that the RFA offered him double what Oktagon did and that he considered it, which kept him from fully focusing on his fight.
Novotny took some time to find polite and appropriate words to begin his statement. And right off the bat he used the wise line, ” If you lie and cheat all the time, and now it’s a verified fact, not my feeling, the universe will get back at you sooner or later. I think you may have already made up your mind.”
“To convince Ivan a few days before the fight to break a valid contract? That seems unreal to me. Ivan made some statement but it was different and he knows it. I don’t think he can complain about anything. Somehow we have reached an agreement, we have a new contract,” he continued.
Immediately afterwards, Novotny revealed that someone is constantly going to Oktagon fighters who have a valid contract and promising them that if they break it, they will stand up for him. He said it’s been that way since the RFA started.
“What do you want to say to a guy who enters the scene saying he’s going to buy fake fans, hand out tickets, talk about the arenas he’s sold out, when he wasn’t even 10% close? What do you say to a guy who comes to a press conference and uses claims we made up, who calls our suppliers so he can do an open-air in Ostrava on July 23 when everyone knows it’s our date? What do we have to say to that? We don’t givea f**k,” Novotný said.
The Oktagon promoter added that it is possible to communicate with people who want to communicate. He also recalled the early days of his organization, when they politely approached everyone and invited everyone to their tournament. In his judgement, they treat everybody absolutely correctly.
As for the situation in Košice, Novotný said that he has not been in the city for three years, he has never called the STEEL Arena and Oktagon is not going there.
“For me personally, let them do the tournament there. Good luck. I would give it to them. He who treats what he treats, also meets what he treats. I think we’ve said it all,” Novotny ended the topic.
