Novotný explained how the Gamechanger in Ostrava will take place. He talked about Úškrt’s participation, laughed at Bricht
Oktagon presented Tipsport Gamechanger as a spectacular project, the European MMA Champions League. However, most of the participants will obviously be among the already known fighters of the organization, which fans are beginning to bear rather unpleasantly. However, promoter Ondřej Novotný says that there will still be something to look forward to. He says that we will also see completely new names.
A stunt in Gamechanger? There are two more interesting names in the game
Oktagon 38 offered a quality spectacle beyond expectations, despite the fact that the tournament was accompanied by complications regarding the health problems of several fighters. Radovan Uskrt and Ole Magnor had one of the most interesting fights.
This understandably outraged some fans. They were looking forward to a pyramid where the very best of Europe would compete. They certainly didn’t expect that most of the fighters would be stars of the Octagon.
However, Ondrej Novotny revealed that Úškrt’s participation is definitely not unrealistic. “I wanted, if possible, two Germans, two Czechs and two Slovaks to be there. If Rado asked for it and he is giving such a performance, when we remember for example his performance in the welter with Kertész, why not?” he expressed in MMA Flight Through the World.
The Octagon promoter notes that Ushrt has a shot at middleweight as well, so he could be a troublesome opponent for anyone in the welterweight division.
In addition, Novotny says there are two very interesting names in play that may not be familiar to Oktagon fans. However, these are fighters who have never appeared in the biggest domestic organization.
And would he be bothered by the large number of Oktagon stars in attendance? “It’s not a shame. Why would it be, if it’s the best there is in Europe. Feel free to send me any top name you miss that absolutely has to be there. You’ll find there aren’t many,” he is clear.
Leo Brichta’s name came up in the comments. Novotny’s reaction? Ridicule and a statement of fact that he is a lightweight fighter. “He wouldn’t bite and it’s nonsense in any other edition,” he added.
The whole project will kick off on March 4 at Ostravar Arena in Ostrava. About 65% of the tickets are already sold out. The gala evening will offer 9 games of the whole project, namely eight eight-final games and one reserve game.
“18 fighters, all with one goal in mind. To me, that’s a brutal attraction. We’ll add two fights of local fighters, like Honza Široký, and that will be the maximum. Thewhole night will belong to Gamechanger,” Ondřej Novotný is looking forward to it.
“The tournament will end and you will be able to watch on YouTube how the 8 winners will determine their fate by lot. Already tonight we will know the pairs for the next tournaments to the quarterfinals, where they will face each other. You will decide the 16th participant, the two lucky losers, the two people who, if healthy, will get the chance to fight on for good money out of the eight losers,” he added.
Those fighters who drop out early in the pyramid will fight it out in the welter for the ranking. So if, for example, champion Kaik Brito drops out early, we will see his early defence.
“We will recruit some new people. I think the attraction will grow with the way we have it figured out, though of course we’re bound to get some surprises,” the Octagon promoter concluded on the topic.
