At the end of the year, Oktagon officially confirmed the date of Attila Vegh’s rematch with Karlos Vemola. The speculations were confirmed, the tournament will be held in June at the football stadium in Eden. It will set a historic attendance record.
Almost 20,000 fans will be able to fit into Eden for the football, a number that will of course increase due to the fact that they will be able to sit on the grass. But it won’t be like concerts, where there are standing places. So it is estimated that the number will be slightly lower than 30,000.
It’s going to be a challenge for the Oktagon, but it’s the first time they’ve done a tournament in such a venue. Promoter Ondrej Novotny has now outlined what it is like to actually organize such a tournament.
Novotny about the gala by Oktagon in Eden
“The biggest challenge is to manage such a large space, if possible perfectly, that is technically. From the point of view of the spectators, so that everything runs smoothly and they know where they have what. Either those in the stands, where it’s easier, or on the pitch, where it’s not so easy. We have about two thousand VIP tickets, which I think is quite a rare thing.
It’s important that the sound is as it should be and everything is lit properly. That’s probably the biggest challenge, but it’s also an opportunity to do it differently,” said the Oktagon promoter, who is currently in the Dominican Republic for the Survivor reality show, in an interview with CNN Prima News.
“It’s the first time we’re going to a football stadium and it’s hard to come up with the ideal setup, seating, to make it as comfortable as possible for everyone. And then to light the whole thing and to come up with the accompanying thing so that you feel like it’s a kind of Czech Super Bowl,” he added.
